Bananas, cassava, sweet potatoes, beans, and corn flourish in Leticia Christopher’s fields. But that was not always the case. In the past, the family of the 47-year-old Tanzanian hardly had enough to eat. “The agricultural training at Kolping has helped me a lot, “Leticia reports. “Thanks to effective farming methods, I now harvest much more. Our whole life has improved.”
The smallholder bakes biscuits and doughnuts from processed cassava flour and sells them successfully at the market. Together with her Kolping Family, she even produces optimised cassava seeds, thus contributing to food security in the entire village. Leticia has been participating in the cassava value addition project of Kolping Tanzania for five years. She has worked hard for her success. Today, she also supports other families.
You can help smallholder families to make a living through their own efforts. Training materials for an agricultural course cost 70 euros. Seed for six families is 110 euros. The families in Tanzania say thank you from the bottom of their hearts!
