Czernowitz, July 2026
Dear Kolping brothers and sisters, dear donors,
Since the start of the war, you have stood firmly by the people of Ukraine. For this, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Today, I would like to update you once again on the situation here this summer.
Air raid sirens, rocket attacks and drone strikes are an almost daily part of life. The regions in the east and south of the country, in particular, continue to come under heavy fire. And yet our staff and the many volunteers are not giving up – they are continuing their humanitarian work day after day.
Our latest aid convoy took us to the regions of Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia and Dnipro. Together with our German friends, supporters and police representatives, we were able to supply special police officers and the ‘White Angels’ evacuation teams with urgently needed equipment: generators, high-powered power stations and medical devices such as defibrillators and dressings. Of course, we also brought food for the emergency services, who are often on duty for days on end under the most difficult conditions.
We were particularly moved by an encounter in Kharkiv: our visit to injured police officers who are being treated in hospital following operations. Their strength, their courage and their concern for others made a deep impression on us and showed us once again why our joint aid is so important.
Equally moving were the encounters with the ‘White Angels’ teams. These men and women travel daily to the most dangerous areas to evacuate families, elderly people and children, and to provide first aid to the injured. Thanks to the equipment funded by your donations, they can work more safely and save even more lives.
None of this would be possible without your support. Every donation translates into tangible aid: a generator that supplies electricity; medical supplies that save lives; food for people defending their homes and protecting others; or for those who have had to leave their homes and are now living in emergency shelters…
On behalf of everyone who benefits from your help, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your solidarity not only provides practical support to the people of Ukraine, but also gives them the reassurance that they are not alone during this difficult time.
Thank you very much for your trust, your generosity and your loyal support for our work.
Yours sincerely
Vasyl Savka
