KOLPING INTERNATIONAL mourns the passing of Pope Francis, who died this morning at the age of 88.
With deep faith and tireless commitment, Pope Francis has shaped the Catholic Church and the entire world over the past twelve years. With his encyclical Laudato Si, he called upon all of us to take responsibility for creation – a guiding principle that continues to shape the work of KOLPING INTERNATIONAL to this day. His commitment to social justice, to the dignity of every human being and to dialogue between cultures and religions has built bridges and given hope.
‘With deep sadness, but comforted by the Easter blessing he delivered yesterday, we pray for Pope Francis,’ says General Praeses Msgr Christoph Huber. ‘We are grateful for his legacy and dedicate our prayers to him, here in Cologne’s Minorite Church and throughout the worldwide Kolping community. May God welcome him into his kingdom and grant him eternal rest.’
