21.12.2018: Merry Christmas

Christmas Greetings 2018 from KOLPING INTERNATIONAL

Mary and Joseph, the parents of Jesus, are on their way. There is no room at the inn, so Jesus is born in a stable...

The Bible tells the nativity story in a very matter-of-fact way. Life is hard, people are suffering and most of their efforts are in vain. It is about contradictions, about suffering and pain. And God came precisely into this world. He comes into our world where there is no air to breathe and little hope for a better life because of all the injustice, malice and selfishness.

It is the wonder of Christmas that we are not led to believe in paradise on earth but that God sent his son into the world as it is.

That is why it is good if we too see the world as it is and do not forget about those at Christmas who are struggling: the poor, the sick, the street children, the homeless, all those people who are suffering from injustice and misery in Africa, Latin America, Europe, and Asia. All those ordinary people who we meet in the nativity story make it clear what really matters: that Christmas wants to be hope and most of all peace for all people on earth.

We wish you a very merry and blessed Christmas 2018. May God bless you always in 2019.
