To combat poverty takes center stage in the work of the Social and Development Aid of the Kolping Society, registered organization (SEK) – already since 1968. Every year our projects help several hundreds of thousands of people. The co-workers in the national organizations act as competent partners in situ. Together we promote the possibilities of the individual person, support the organization of disadvantaged people, and strengthen the development of civil societies.
Human dignity needs an economically sound existence. We work for this. By offering courses for vocational preparation and vocational qualification measures the SEK opens up new chances for people: to get a qualified job and thereby a sufficient income.
We promote savings groups and grant small credits to people without regular income or with rather small income. We give advice to people who set up their own businesses, and establish networks of small entrepreneurs.
The SEK finances the construction of wells, cisterns and latrines. Technical advice and help for investments for small farmers give concrete and direct help.
Education is important in all our projects, so that the individual can develop a conscience for his co-responsibility in shaping the society.
