Vocational training at Kolping in Romania

Flagship project “Cool Academy”: Dual training has a unique character in the country

The Kolping Hotel has been carrying out training programmes for 10 years in Brasov, Romania. 600 young people have already received training as a cook, waiter or receptionist. Furthermore, several hundred pupils were able to carry out internships in the hotel.

At the end of 2017, Kolping Romania co-founded the first dual vocational training school “Cool Academy” for tourism and hotel management. What makes it so special is that it is the first dual vocational training in the whole country. Partner school is the technical lyceum ‘Maria Baiulescu‘ which founded three classes – one for the training as a cook, another one for waiters and the third one for hotel managers and hotel manageress.

Mr Eduard Dobre and Ms Nicoleta Paladua at Kolping Romania were the pioneers of this project and had presented their concept of dual vocational training on a training fair in Timisoara. Ms Nicoleta Paladua is also a member of the school board.
