A few days ago, Super Typhoon Yagi caused severe devastation in Myanmar. The regions where Kolping Families are located are particularly affected. Kolping mourns nine deaths and significant damage to more than 200 member families.
The hardship in the region is immense. Many families have lost everything. Their houses have been destroyed and a large proportion of their livestock has died in the floods. Fields have been swept away and entire harvests destroyed. Moreover, the infrastructure has been extensively damaged and many roads are impassable. Kolping provided immediate help and has asked us for support. Water, food, and blankets were distributed to the people as immediate aid. But the situation remains critical: ‘After the water receded, the flooded areas resemble a landscape of debris. The roofs of many small houses were washed away, and mountains of rubbish remain,’ reports Jennifer from KOLPING Myanmar.
