“Helping people to help themselves is a principle I have supported for more than fifty years with the aim of providing those benefiting from this help with practical skills to make a living in their home country. (…) Inspired by Adolph Kolping’s goals, young people shall be encouraged to “show great diligence in their work“ and “to shoulder responsibility for their family and for society”. In so doing, they shall set an example by practicing basic Christian values and principles (…) in keeping with Adolph Kolping’s core message: “Active help heals all wounds, mere words only increase the pain”. I hope that in setting up this foundation I will help young people beyond my death to secure their livelihoods in their home country.”
