“I started KOLPING in Tanzania in 1989. The successful implementation of KOLPING development work programs in Bukoba diocese attracted the attention of other dioceses and soon spread there. The majority of KOLPING members in Africa are and less privileged smallholders. Consequently, for KOLPING Tanzania it became clear that KOLPING in Africa cannot concentrate its development cooperation only on vocational training but has to open up its program also to rural development. I am indeed delighted to see how a good number of KOLPING national associations in Africa come to Tanzania to learn and embrace our example for rural development programs. These programs are contributing to the realization of United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.”

Msgr. David Kamugisha, Founder and National Praeses of the Kolping Society of Tanzania
