On 1st October the 34th International Convention of KOLPING INTERNATIONAL concluded in Bensberg near Cologne.
On the last day, the 152 delegates from 43 countries dealt with the question: What can and should a synodal church look like? What experiences can Kolping contribute to this ecclesiastical process?
General Secretary Dr Markus Demele gave a keynote speech before delegates worked in small groups on what they would like to see in a synodal church. Each group recorded a video, which was then presented in the plenary. The groups shared the conviction that diversity is possible where there is a strong common foundation of faith and values. The global Kolping community is a living example of this with all its diversity.
For the delegates, the four days of the International Convention, including the Day of Action, were a unique opportunity to exchange views on a wide range of topics of the Association and to do so again on a personal, family level after a long time of digital meetings. The next International Convention will take place in Germany again in six years.
