The Kolping Association in Myanmar grows and the enthusiasm for the canonization of Adolph Kolping is great. Therefore, the association has joined the petition of the German Kolping Society and collected 901 signatures during the last weeks demanding the canonization of the association’s founder.
For the next year the Association has even published its own Kolping Calendar which should remind the Kolping members to pray every day for the canonisation of Kolping. This calendar will be distributed to all 927 Kolping members in 60 Kolping Families.
On Sunday, people in Taunggyi and Pyay queued up for signing the petition after mass. However, as there are still curfews in large parts of the country due to the pandemic, the association has also collected signatures online. In addition, the Kolping community in Myanmar prays daily for his canonisation. “Our members are proud and happy to be part of the worldwide Kolping community,” reports Leilei Win from the Board of Kolping Myanmar.
Kolping currently counts 927 members in Myanmar, spread over 60 Kolping Families. Apart from the association building, the focus is on the promotion of small income generating activities. The association also grants scholarships for the education of young people, so that young people from poor families can complete higher school education or even university studies.
