Romania: Telephone booth turned into a food box

In Oituz/Romania people can now go to a telephone booth, not to make a phone call but to pick up some food there.

The Kolping Youth set up and painted an old telephone booth in front of the social and educational center to convert it into a food depot for the needy: Similar to the book-sharing boxes, the phone box is available for people to donate food and others are free to help themselves. Flour, sugar, pasta, cooking oil, tomato cans – COVID-19 is increasing poverty amongst the population.

Fortunately, there are quite a few people who donate food. If there is too much food in the phone booth, the Kolping Family will pack it in boxes and distribute it amongst poor families or poor and single seniors. What an important and outstanding sign of solidarity in these difficult times!
