East Africa is delighted: KOLPING Rwanda is now a government-certified producer of seed potatoes.
This is official recognition of the good quality of the seed potatoes that the association grows in greenhouses and on central fields. The certification also has positive economic effects for the association and its smallholder farmers: KOLPING Rwanda can now sell seeds countrywide at reasonable prices. At the same time, Kolping farmers in the region have a higher supply of high-quality seed. Potatoes are also an important staple food in East Africa and the demand is high. The certification as a seed producer is one step in a large agricultural project of KOLPING Rwanda, which aims at expanding the value chain for Kolping farmers.
