With great dismay, the world is looking to Ukraine. Our thoughts go out to the people there, among them about 700 Kolping sisters and Kolping brothers. We are united with them in prayer and active support.
KOLPING Ukraine in Chernivtsi is not yet directly affected. Vasyl Savka, Managing Director of the Association, reported to us this morning: “We don’t know whether people will also have to flee from here. We all live in a state of uncertainty and fear. If we stay, we want to offer refuge to refugees from the war regions. For this we need folding beds, water cisterns and first aid kits. We also give first aid courses to our population. Many people want to do something. For this, we need above all medical equipment. The need is already great, and we don’t know what lies ahead.”
We maintain close contact to our friends in Ukraine. And the KOLPING Associations in the neighbouring countries already prepare themselves to receive refugees. As the television pictures show, the events there are coming to a head.
