KOLPING INTERNATIONAL files UN-Statement
KOLPING INTERNATIONAL is one of the few international NGOs that made a written statement at this year’s meeting of the United Nations Commission for Social Development, which was adopted by Secretary General António Guterres.
At this year’s Civil Society Forum at the UN headquarters in mid-February, the NGO Committee Social Development prepared its own statement on the subject. From KOLPING INTERNATIONAL, General Secretary Markus Demele and John Reitter (USA) attended the meeting in New York. Markus Demele: “Social inequality must not be accepted as an alternative, neither within a country nor globally. The Sustainability Agenda 2030 and also the encyclical “Laudato Si” rightly remind us that the Global North and South can only together and in harmony with nature enable all people to live in dignity!” The declaration is available in six languages (see link).
