In many countries all over the world, young people have participated in demonstrations every Friday over many months to demand concrete political action to prevent further man-made global warming. On September 20, people all over the world took to the streets to strike for climate action. The Kolping Youth in Germany asked its members to participate in this “climate strike“ – many of them got involved, sharing their impressions on social media.
Elisabeth Adolf, German Kolping Youth secretary said: “For more than a year, young people take to the streets to demonstrate that we must change our habits if we want to have a livable planet in future. But most of all they call upon policy-makers to act now, to make decisions and not to wait until it is too late. It is high time. It is important that all generations are getting involved to save this planet and its limited resources.“ To this end, a declaration was drawn up by the Kolping Youth in cooperation with the expert committee “Responsibility for this one world“.
