Kolping East Timor proclaimed a national organization

Kolping East Timor (Timor-Leste) was proclaimed a national organization at the end of 2022. General Praeses Msgr. Christoph Huber and desk officer Martin J. Rüber grasped this opportunity to travel to South-East Asia.

Apart from the festivities and the election of a national board composed of representatives from all three Timorese dioceses of Baucau, Dili and Maliana, this was also a great chance for General Praeses Huber to get to know the projects and the work of Kolping as an association in the country. He visited Kolping families who generate an income by producing coconut oil, soy milk and tofu. They were trained and educated by the German development agency GIZ and by Kolping, and with the help of a small loan they were able to become self-reliant producers.

Kolping mentors the young people also when they take their first steps in the world of work.

Kolping Timor-Leste now has 1.278 members in 115 Kolping Families, is represented in three dioceses and is now also a member of the International Board of Directors.
