In its recently published 2019 Annual Report, KOLPING INTERNATIONAL looks back on a successful year: an overall revenue of almost 11 million euros was raised for our partners’ development cooperation work in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Central and Eastern Europe. We were able to support 154 projects in 41 countries, such as educational projects, agricultural support programs, income-generating projects or the construction of wells and cisterns.
2019 was a very special KOLPING year because KOLPING INTERNATIONAL Cooperation e.V. celebrated its 50th anniversary in October. “In 1969 the International Kolping Society took a courageous step forward by starting its professional development of poverty reduction programs throughout the world“, says General Praeses Msgr. Ottmar Dillenburg. “Today, this association has become a strong community of members operating in 60 countries and seeking greater justice. Many people working at different levels of the association in Europe demonstrate their solidarity and commitment to their sisters and brothers in the Global South.“
This commitment continued to grow in 2019: In its anniversary year, KOLPING INTERNATIONAL Cooperation e.V. registered a record result in donations of 3.947 million euros, corresponding to a strong increase by 18.46 percent compared with the previous year (3.331 million euros). Nearly 90 percent of donations were raised internally by the different parts of the association. The biggest grant was awarded by public authorities: The German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) supported Kolping projects throughout the world with a stable 6.89 million euros (previous year: 6.74 million euros). We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to all those who helped to make this great annual result possible by providing us with grants, donations or other funds.
