Uganda: Having a future thanks to vocational training

Uganda has a young population: 75% of the people are 25 years and younger. Unfortunately, youth unemployment is very high. Some young people have a poor education, many of them have never been trained in a trade. This is where KOLPING comes in with its “Work Opportunity Program“:

In Kampala, young people are trained in metal fabrication, in catering and hotel hospitality or as hairdressers. In addition to providing technical training, KOLPING teaches so-called “soft skills“, such as how to behave at the workplace and how to apply for a job at the end of the training. A new course with 40 trainees is now going to start to give these youngsters a good training and good job prospects.

The WOP program is also our “project of the month“.
