KOLPING INTERNATIONAL, along with other international non-governmental organizations (INGOs), has called upon the United Nations and international institutions not to fully cancel the “2020 Finance for Development Forum“ of the United Nations to be convened in July.
“The Forum will bring together those in charge of economics, finances and society“, the NGOs state in their appeal. It must be used to clarify the urgently needed international funding of the fight against poverty and the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic.
Agreements on international development funding are the guidelines both of European and of most national development policies. The international community of states must ensure the funding of the work to save the most vulnerable not despite but because of the coronavirus crisis.
