Beekeeping has become increasingly popular in the past few years. In Germany, there are many people who engage in beekeeping as a hobby. To save bees, they set up beehives in their gardens. In many countries, such as Nicaragua, people generate an income by selling honey.
Here, KOLPING offers regular workshops for people who want to produce honey. There are currently 42 participants who do not only learn about honey production but also about other products they can make from it, such as candles, honey candies, cookies or soap. KOLPING also trains them in how to market their products and how to do the bookkeeping because the goal is to make a profit. By the way, the white protective suits that the beekeepers wear are made in a KOLPING training project.
